Nintendo Music Expands Mario Kart World Free Roam Library with 13 New Tracks
The tracks are grouped into five playlists:
1. Free Roam with Super Mario Maker – “Title Screen” (Super Mario Maker) 2. Free Roam with Mario Paint – “Painting Mode 1” and “Flyswatter Level 1” (Mario Paint) 3. Free Roam with New Super Mario Bros. – “Ground BGM” and “Castle BGM” (New Super Mario Bros.) 4. Free Roam with New Super Mario Bros. Wii – seven tracks, including “Underwater BGM”, “Castle BGM”, “Castle Boss”, “Desert BGM”, “Beach Theme”, “Volcano BGM”, and “Credits Theme 1” (New Super Mario Bros. Wii) 5. Free Roam with New Super Mario Bros. U – “Ground Theme” (New Super Mario Bros. U)
These additions arrive a week after the last update, which dropped songs from Super Mario World, Super Mario Land, Super Mario Land 2 – 6 Golden Coins, and Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3. Nintendo Music’s weekly drip feed of Free Roam tracks has become a staple of the service since it first launched.
Nintendo Music, a streaming platform that opened on Android and iOS on October 31 2024 and added a web player on June 1 2026, is tied to an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription. New users can try the service for seven days before it auto‑renews.
Mario Kart World, released on June 5 2025 for the Switch 2, introduced an open‑world Free Roam mode that lets players cruise across interconnected tracks without racing. The soundtrack, composed by a team led by Atsuko Asahi, features over 200 tracks—many of which are rearrangements of classic Mario themes—and plays in the background as players explore.
By expanding the Free Roam library, Nintendo Music gives fans a fresh listening experience while reinforcing the company’s broader strategy of monetizing its vast catalog of game music across multiple platforms. Regularly adding new content encourages Switch Online members to keep their subscriptions active and to discover more of Nintendo’s sonic heritage.
The move also fits into a larger content rollout. Nintendo has been steadily adding playlists from other franchises, such as Animal Crossing and Super Smash Bros., to keep the platform relevant for both casual listeners and die‑hard fans.
As of the latest update, Nintendo Music’s catalog exceeds 1,200 tracks from more than 200 Nintendo titles, reflecting the growing appetite for game‑music streaming and Nintendo’s willingness to extend its intellectual property beyond traditional game sales.
In short, the July 14 update brings 13 new Free Roam tracks to Mario Kart World, raising the total to 16 and covering five playlists that feature reorchestrations from Mario Paint, Super Mario Maker, and the New Super Mario Bros. series. The addition follows the service’s weekly release cadence and supports Nintendo’s goal of deepening engagement with its music‑streaming platform. The next update is slated for early August, with more tracks from other Mario titles on the way. Nintendo has not announced any changes to the free‑trial period or subscription pricing.
